Atom Zhou was elected chairman of the Year of the Horse Committee. After his studies, Atom started various initiatives aimed at the Chinese community in the Netherlands, such as publishing the Chinese newspaper China Times and 88 Mobile, a mobile virtual-network operator that offers its own services over its bandwidth. Atom Zhou is an experienced entrepreneur from The Hague. He is director and founder of a real estate company and was, among other things, involved in the development of the Asian Business Court in The Hague, Colours of Asia in Rotterdam, and Havendijk Hotel in Schiedam.
Besides his work in the telecom and real estate sectors, Zhou is director of the newspaper he founded, “China Times”. This is an independent media organization and newspaper in the Netherlands with a circulation of more than 50,000 copies. Atom Zhou is also socially active and is regularly involved in organizing cultural events, such as anniversaries of the Chinese community in the Netherlands and the national celebration of the National Spring Festival / Chinese New Year. He is also chairman of the board of the “De Chinese Brug” Foundation, a non-profit welfare organization in The Hague that supports elderly Chinese people, and chairman of the supervisory board of China Town The Hague, a BIZ (Business Investment Zone) of The Hague entrepreneurs in Chinatown in collaboration with the Municipality of The Hague.
The celebration of the Spring Festival and Chinese New Year is an important international event, says Atom Zhou. It is a wonderful festival where family and friends come together to ring in the new year. It is fantastic that we can celebrate this beautiful event together at The Hague City Hall! A celebration for everyone—young or old, Chinese or non-Chinese.
